DUTCH HOUSE HOME TO HISTORICAL BENEFIT.(ACCENT)

The Luykas Van Alen House in Kinderhook has been called ``the most instructive evidence'' of Dutch settlement in the Mid-Hudson region.

It features steep-pitched roofs, parapet gables and iron-tie rods that hold the brick facade to its wooden structure -- typical marks of Dutch architecture which also featured separate exterior doors to each room in the house.

At 6 p.m. Friday, the 1737 house and property will provide the setting for the ``First Columbians'' benefit for the Columbia County Historical Society which owns the property. The prestigious international auction house, Sotheby's, is the sponsor. …
